In the end, this is my final message for the patients and caregivers . Dementia or Alzheimer's disease should never define a person. We are who we are, A disease should never define us for who we are. We should continue to believe in ourselves for who we are by embracing our positive strength & pursue the "ability model " instead of the "disability model " of health care , not focusing on the diagnosis or disability or weakness , rather focussing on strength and continue to challenge brain with activities, socialization and learning new things everyday . Cognitive health truly can maintain and slow down the progression of the disease and vascular complications of the brain and can be achieved by cognitive exercise including socialization, practice a modified brain and heart healthy lifestyle , adding brain foods including MIND diet, adding regular physical activities including yoga, physical exercise, meditation and cognitive stimulation tasks and over all improvement in the quality of life in order to make a meaningful change in the lives of our patients and caregivers.
